Charcoal

Lay an image on the sheet

It goes into the kiln as a picture and comes out as a charcoal drawing made of text. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Or paste, or drop anywhere on the sheet.

Chapter 1, The branch

Every drawing begins as something living. A willow branch falls, still holding its rings.

Chapter 2, The fire

Sealed away from air, the wood cannot burn. It gives up its water and smoke, until only carbon stays.

Chapter 3, The mark

Now the stick meets the sheet. Every dark grain is a choice, and what you leave empty becomes the light.

The drawing lands here once an image has been through the kiln.

Fix it and take it

Chapter 4, The keeping

Charcoal lifts at a touch, so artists fix it to the page. Your drawing is ready to carry.

Finish a drawing on the easel and it will be ready here.
